Being motivated after working all day, with it getting dark so early, is the biggest obstacle
As someone who lives in northern Norway, I can claim to know a thing or two about running in cold and dark, and nothing beats wool clothing for this, and if you make sure to hang it to dry immediately after getting back home, you can wear the same wool shirt for a very long time before you need to wash it, and it won’t smell as bad as synthetic fabrics will. I love running outdoors in winter - I hate treadmills…
My biggest barrier right now is not wanting to slip on the wet leaves all over the pavements!
Just back from a 5k run in the dark and this video is live. Great timing 👍
Edmonton, Canada here. Winter running is no joke! Usually have a number of runs below -30°C. Layers are key! Shoutout Icebug for great ice shoes. Built in studs!
Am I the only one enjoying running in the cold?! I feel like I can perform way better below 10 celsius... My body doesn't sweat as much and doesn't overheat. My mind is more clear and energized...
"That boil in the bag feeling". 😆😆😆
Checking in from Winnipeg! Two additional tips: get some cross country ski overshorts to keep the wind off your bits. Best running purchase I've made. Second, when there's risk of frost bite, ski goggles with a clear lens are a great investment.
Blessed to have a decent neighborhood here in Minnesota where I can run the cold dark miles safely.
Gets to about -25°C here, definitely gonna use dress my run website, thanks for the tip Ben!
