i feel like your first assumption when a magician sets something up like this is that he will houdini out of the noose if/when you pull it. i don’t blame him for trusting a person whose job it is to do crazy stunts.
I used to do filming for a magician's close up reels when I was a teenager and let me tell you, if you say you're a magician people will do anything you tell them. I've seen people put their hands into open flames, stab their hands with knives they thought were real, any dumb thing you can conceive of a magician asking you and someone has done it willingly and on camera. I'm not a big Kai fan at all, but I can 100% see why he kept participating.
I don't blame Kai. You have a professional magician/stunt coordinator so even if the set up seems sketchy, you'd assume that the professional would know what they are doing. And in the end, he did. Kai even banned all magicians from his stream after this
A bill should be about ONE thing. I cannot wrap my head around how sneaking topics into other bills is even allowed still.
As a hobbyist magician myself, all of the fault and responsibility for this incident falls entirely on Max's shoulders. Max should know the audience and broadcast medium he's performing for, and is responsible for ensuring his act is appropriate for that audience/broadcast medium. Additionally, Max should've been communicating with either Kai or a member of Kai's team to make sure the act was appropriate, and so they could make whatever adjustments may be necessary to minimize any sort of panic, confusion, or (in this particular act's case) potential trauma or anxiety response that may result from the act. Max communicating his plan to Kai's team was paramount, and he chose to leave them in the dark. It's Max's fault here.
The fact that people were telling Kai to use "basic logic" when dealing with a MAGICIAN, is peak stupidity. The entire point of a magic trick is to DEFY LOGIC.
I love that this channel covers things like the Hubble Constant just as much as internet drama. It's a beautiful thing you don't forget the science amongst all the other news
Phil suddenly turned into Hank Green there I guess? Time to learn about the expansion of the universe!
Love the deep dive. It’s nice to learn something about science again. Especially with the way the world is rn.
i feel like this is a perfect example of why penn and teller always inject humour into their seemingly more dangerous acts, since it diffuses the tension and lets the particpiants/audience know that despite the appearance of real danger it's still just a part of the act and nothing has happened that's outside the magicians' expectations
