As someone who's father forgot to pick them up from practice once until my mom got home... trust me, as the kid you never forget that kind of betrayal. Even if it only happens once. It makes you feel so unimportant in the life of your parent.
The thing about the gaming story is that it only takes one time to forget your kids and they're gone forever
In the second story OP states that the wife had missed “crucial appointments and chores” so it is not a one time thing it was just the most serious example so far.
“It was a one time thing” only works if something crazy happened and you were unable to pick up your kid on time. That excuse doesn’t work when the reason was you were playing a video game
The mom in the second story is not only wrong for forgetting her kid but also for telling her husband not to get mad. If I forgot to pick someone up, especially a minor, I would be so mad at myself that I would completely understand my husband's anger.
this is such a small detail, but I'm so happy the 12 year old felt comfortable enough to talk to her dad about her period! :')
10:36 one of my favorite things that’s happened in my preschool classroom is that a child came in crying and saying that their dog had died, and four other kids went to comfort him and told him that they had dogs that died too. They described where the dogs were buried, and told him that it was okay to be sad. They were so emotionally intelligent and so sweet and genuine in that moment. This is why I continue to teach.
that person is NOT projecting. your kid may not think its a big deal at 9 but he will at 19 and itll reveal a pattern they cannot unsee.
Man or woman, no child deserves to be left behind by their parent for a video game. The father had the right response.
They are not projecting 100%. Please never forget your child, because they WILL remember that moment.
