The chin is there so that we can put a pillow inside a pillow case.
it's so you can fold a bed sheet by yourself.
Regarding the whites of the eyes, it should be noted that it is distinct enough that even dogs can take direction from where a person is looking
Humans were bummed about no longer having tails and evolution said "chin up" and humans went "bet"
Something overlooked regarding the chin is that it allows for protrusion of the tongue and soft tissues of the oral cavity which increases the volume of air that can pass through the oropharynx. People with deficient chins have a higher incidence of sleep disorders, particularly apnea. People with sleep apnea have higher incidence of cognitive behavior problems, such as attention disorders. Also, people with apnea have increased cardiac load while sleeping which places extra stress on the heart. Maybe the chin conveys some evolutionary advantage by improving longer term survival because improved air intake volume decreases cognitive problems and cardiac stress.
"A chin that could have a talk show of it's own."
We grew chins ... how else were we going to strap on out helmets?
