Description

Cardiologist and public health advocate Dr. Aseem Malhotra challenges the conventional cholesterol narrative, reveals why insulin resistance and chronic inflammation may be the true drivers of heart disease, explains the lifestyle and stress-reduction strategies shown to reverse arterial plaque, and shares the tests, diet, and practical interventions he uses to help patients dramatically lower their cardiovascular risk. Dr. Aseem Malhotra is an NHS-trained consultant cardiologist, bestselling author, and internationally recognized public health advocate known for his work on heart disease prevention, metabolic health, and reducing excess sugar consumption. Dr. Malhotra explains: 🟦 Why statins may offer only marginal benefit for many people — and the side effects most patients are never told about 🟦 Why insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and stress may be the true root causes of heart disease 🟦 The key blood markers, calcium scores, and imaging tests that reveal your real cardiovascular risk 🟦 How arterial plaque can stabilize — and in some cases reverse — through stress reduction 🟦 Why low-carb Mediterranean eating, blood sugar control, and visceral fat loss matter more than lowering LDL alone 🟦 The most effective lifestyle changes to rapidly improve metabolic health and reduce heart attack risk Subscribe to The Jesse Chappus Show on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JesseChappus (And be sure to hit the 🔔 to get notified when new videos are released!) 00:00 — Intro 00:57 — Why LDL may not be the real cause of heart disease 05:16 — Statin side effects doctors often ignore 09:47 — How heart risk is really measured 21:29 — The real root cause: insulin resistance 27:08 — How blood vessel damage actually happens 29:17 — Why most heart attacks happen in smaller blockages 33:30 — Can plaque buildup really be reversed? 37:47 — Why chronic stress may be as dangerous as smoking 39:17 — The reversal study that shocked cardiologists 45:33 — How to start reversing plaque at home 46:45 — Keto vs carnivore vs low carb 49:30 — Seed oils, LDL, and inflammation 52:48 — The best tests for heart disease risk 55:22 — Calcium scores, stress tests, and angiograms 01:01:30 — Soft plaque vs calcified plaque 01:06:43 — Fasting and heart disease prevention 01:10:53 — Best supplements for heart health 01:14:37 — What changed Dr. Malhotra’s mind 01:37:01 — 3 takeaways to improve heart health fast Show notes: https://jessechappus.com/698 Follow Dr. Malhotra: Website - https://linkly.link/2eol9 Instagram - https://linkly.link/2eolY Facebook - https://linkly.link/2eolg X - https://linkly.link/2eolT You can purchase Dr. Malhotra's books here: A Statin-Free Life - https://geni.us/hZ3iC The 21-Day Immunity Plan - https://geni.us/gplm5 The Pioppi Diet - https://geni.us/9iIBw1m Connect with The Jesse Chappus Show: Website - https://jessechappus.com Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/jessechappusshow Disclaimer The opinions expressed in this video are those of the guest and are presented for informational purposes only. LDL is a useless gage. When I was 50, a doctor said let’s get your lipid profile. My LDL was off, he wanted to shove meds at me, I said no. I’m 73 now and I’m still here, that doctor is not.

Jesse always asks great questions and allows his guests to talk without cutting in a lot like so many interviewers do. Great interview as always, Jesse 👍.

Dr. Malhotra just opined that stains were "not life threatening." But how about the ever increasing amount of data that suggests a significant relationship between statins and neurodegenerative diseases like DEMENTIA and ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease)?

My doctor put me on statins. I collected them each month but didn't take them. Year later my blood tests were great. Doctor said good to see statins are working. I'd never taken them 😂

My GP surgery cannot wait to stuff vaccines and statins into every elderly patient. I have refused all. 76 now, and love my butter, cream, meat and cheese. I dance, do the garden and do plenty of dog walking. I take half a small aspirin a day. Fit as a flea

Excellent 1:40 minutes! I particularly appreciate the references to Dr. Lustig and others that I follow. This is where the revolution in modern medicine is going to come from, and will drag ignorant primary care doctors along with it...in 15 years!

My wife and I went low carb, almost keto, about 6 months ago. A year ago she had terrible trouble with her blood pressure. Today it is always within normal range and her endurance has increased dramatically.
