Skate 4 Finally Came Out and It's Weird
Skate 4 Early Access: Glitches Carry Fun Gameplay in Malnourished Sandbox
Discover why the Skate 4 early access launch is fun yet fundamentally lacking content, and learn about the game-breaking glitches that are currently defining the player experience.
Short Summary
- The core skating mechanics feel solid, but the current content offering is extremely sparse, feeling "malnourished" after just two hours of play.
- Unprecedented community-driven glitches and movement exploits provide more entertainment than the intended gameplay loop.
- The game is missing critical modes expected from the franchise, leading to the conclusion that the early access period is too premature.
This overview breaks down the immediate impressions upon playing the free early access build for Skate 4. While the skating feels right, the structure—completing challenges for cosmetics—does not justify the current state of the build.

this game needs proximity chat
The art style looks straight out of the Metaverse
There is no underground skate culture in this, the vibe feels way off compared to older games. It is literally the corporate vision of what they think skateboarding is.
"Why does it feel like I'm running so fast" *Has FOV set to 900*
Something I loved about the original trilogy was how much it understood skateboarding culture. They felt grounded despite having arcade-y elements. This game feels like it was made for a generation that never picked up a skateboard or had any interest in the sport
i hate that in real life i can't glitch the fabric of reality and launch myself into the stratosphere like this
Nothing says the rebellious spirit of skating like a corporate, bland ai companion narrating your tricks
The whole thing looks very sanitised and corporate.
Feels extremely corporate. The rebellious aspect of the original is gone; replaced with an unfunny AI snark and a 'city' that's just a skate park.
This game looks like a steam game that was made by 3 people in a month
