Description

Life is hard. Stress is inevitable – whether it’s from things in your daily life or coming from the world around you. But even when things feel overwhelming, there’s always something you can do. In this conversation, Dr. Tara Narula, a board-certified cardiologist and stress expert, reveals the research-backed tools that will help you dial down your stress, train your nervous system to work for you, and feel calmer, stronger, and more in control – even when the world around you feels overwhelming. This conversation will change the way you think about resilience. It’s not about pretending everything is fine, or “bouncing back” like nothing happened. It’s about learning how to adapt to change, turn off stress, calm the worried voice inside, and access the inner strength that’s waiting for you to find it. Dr. Narula explains why you can handle the challenges you’re up against – and how small, simple shifts can help you stop overthinking, rewire your mind, and find moments of hope, joy, meaning, and purpose when you need them most. In this episode, you’ll learn: -Dr. Narula’s 8-part resilience blueprint for handling life when it gets hard -How to turn off stress before it takes over your body -Why resilience is a skill you can build like a muscle -How to protect yourself from caregiver burnout -How to find hope when everything feels uncertain If life feels heavy right now, this conversation will give you the tools, clarity, and steady reminder you need: You are stronger than you think, and you can handle whatever comes next. I totally agree, acceptance is a great way of coping. I was diagnosed with a terminal ailment 20 years ago, initially I was devastated, felt like ending it quickly myself. My life changed when I decided to accept and just make caring for my health the number one priority, the trajectory of my life changed when I did that. Am still here managing my health and making the best of my time here, which I know is another 40years ACCEPTANCE IS POWER. Thank you Mel

*Key points to remember after watching the video. (Thank Me Later):* 1. Stress is not just a feeling; it causes harm inside your body, especially your heart. Too much stress makes you sick. 2. Being resilient means you don't just "bounce back" to how you were. It means you accept changes and find new ways to feel happy and important, even after hard times. 3. You are much stronger than you think. Resilience is like a muscle you can train and make stronger, not something you're born with or without. 4. The first big step to being resilient is to accept what has happened. You can't change the past, but you can choose how you move forward. 5. If your life plans change because of a tough event, don't stick to the old plan. Pick up your "goalpost" and aim for new dreams that still bring you joy. 6. Remember you are more than one problem. Think about all the different good parts of you, like your hobbies and family, instead of just focusing on the hard stuff. 7. You can calm your body by exercising, spending time outside, doing breathing exercises, or talking to a trusted friend or adult. These help turn off your body's stress alarm. 8. Be kind to yourself with your thoughts, just like you would to a good friend. Believing in yourself helps you get through difficult situations. 9. Connect with other people. Even one good friend or joining a group for something fun can help you feel stronger and less alone. 10. Look for hope in small, everyday moments, like a sunny day. Be thankful for little good things; it helps your mind feel more positive. 11. Think about what you truly want and write it down. This "manifesting" helps your brain focus on your goals and gives you a sense of control over your future. 12. Find your "purpose," which is what truly drives you. This inner light helps you find meaning and stay strong, especially when life feels really hard.

I have zero hope. If I make it through a day, great, but I know I won't achieve anything beyond surviving. It's so easy to follow these tips if you actually have spare time and money but so many of us don't. We are grinding just to break even and there is no extra capacity.
