As an oilfield worker I can tell you that safety is the first thing that goes out the window when the bottom line is being negatively affected.

The acting between Kurt Russell and John Malkovich when they are having the heated argument in the cabin is one of my favourite pieces of acting of all time. Two heavyweights going at one another. Superb. The tension is palpable.

The guy at the beginning audio was Mike Williams, who was played by Walburg in the film and was shown in court at the end. 11 Men lost their lives in this disaster, and their names were called out by Mr. Jimmy on the recue boat, and their pictures are shown at the end in tribute. Jason Anderson, Dewey Revette, Donald Clark, Gordon Jones, Roy Kemp, Steven Curtis, Aaron 'Dale' Burkeen, Adam Weise, Shane Roshto, Karl Kleppinger Jr, Keith Manuel. The real James 'Mr. Jimmy' Harrell passed away from cancer a few years ago. Don Vidrine (Played by John Malkovich) also passed away of a heart condition as well. April 20, 2026 marks the 16th anniverssary of this tragedy. May they all Rest In Peace.

the people who did the visual effects for this movie did a great job 👌👍👍

What makes me cry instantly every time I watch this movie is how the ship that was floating nearby immediately called it in and got their first aid and rescue gear ready, and how several other ships also immediately called it in to the coast guard. People always help and it is beautiful.
