Is this about carrying a comical large couch up a flight of stairs yourself, because delivery was too expensive?

Unlearning behaviors is harder than learning new ones. I guess that's why addiction is so difficult.

This is growth. Institutional betrayal is now considered a huge factor in CPTSD/PTSD literature. Take it as an experiment, but be careful when your expectations about a workplace/organisation shape your beliefs moving forward. Was it the work you hated or the industry or organisation? What false assumptions/expectations did you have going into that role? Are they still relevant? Did you ever really know what you needed going into this role? Or were you just taking the job because you need a career. I thought I knew who I was and what I wanted, but failed paths will lead you to where you really want to be. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket when you're young- you have no idea what you want or the reality of whats being sold to you 'in the real world'. Learn to play the game, gather knowledge and experience, and keep moving. NEVER overly sacrifice yourself for these roles that may or may not be your calling overtime, that may or may not resonate with you as you change, learn and develop overtime. Don't let your ego fool you. Institutional betrayal is common in those roles that require the greatest sacrifices (i.e. first responders, military). You are sold a virtuous lifestyle of honour, stewardship, mateship, values of justice, respect, integrity etc. etc. but the reality of these 'heroes' and virtuous institutions in society is far different from what you expect. Give yourself time to learn and grow, like into your 30s, you're still trying to figure it out in your 20s.

Fall in love with reality

Riddle me this: I was at the cusp of having the life that I toiled for for 17 years. And now I've got sleep starts that've been going on for 8 months and almost everything I built is gone. If you don't know what a sleep start is, it's when your muscles twitch just at the moment of falling asleep. Literally, it feels like getting punched in the chest every time I fall asleep. What great wisdom is reality trying to share with me? What am I supposed to learn from watching every single thing I busted my ass for for the last decade and a half crumble before my eyes? What am I supposed to learn from the fact that I got one bloody taste of the good life and now a condition that nobody can explain to me is destroying all of that bit by bit? Am I supposed to learn to be tougher? Just Goggins 5 hours of sleep every other day and pretend everything is fine? What am I supposed to learn here? And before anyone starts with "Well have you...." yes I have. I'm seeing a neurologist, a sleep coach, a functional medicine doctor, I'm getting fecal transplants, taking 20 different supplements and medicines, doing red light therapy, cardio, meditation, journalling, strict diet, strict eating window, no coffee, no alcohol.

4:47 No that's not right at all. Jonny stole because he is dishonest is the cause and effect you just misdefined what dishonesty means. He also didn't steal because he is dishonest he stole because he prioritised the benefits of stealing over future competence, strength, integrity, immorality, long term benefits and safety, the stain to his moral character and the degeneration of his behavioural hygiene etc. That's the reason. Not because he has a bad model. It's because he understands the benefit of stealing in the immediate and doesn't care about the immediate detriment to other people or in the extrapolation to both them, wider society and even to himself. He can very well understand the problems with stealing and still do it. Many people do. Most in fact. He is just capitulating to what is easy because it is easy. It is not circular it does make sense. He stole because he didnt have the moral integrity to not steal. It's that simple. He stole because he in that moment made the decision to steal. Context is important was he forced or coerced, was he lied to? Lots of things can change what the action means but in reality it always boils down to the fact that he stole because he chose to rather than facing the alternative and most of the time time the alternative is as simple as not stealing and going without someone else's property at what they believe to to be zero consequence.

What about life itself - when to push and when to 'pivot'? I'm 30 and if I had 'pivoted' at 15, like I almost did, I don't think I would've missed much
