In a word, no. First, the national tv exposure booming (previously, if you wanted to be seen on tv and to have national notoriety you had five to ten schools to pick between, now EVERY campus affords you a national stage), and now NIL and the portal have minimized regional recruiting advantages. Nebraska built its program on collecting midwestern country strong players and being mentally and physically tougher than everyone. But those days have been gone, and theyre not getting closer to returning. Think about that 1995 Fiesta Bowl. Florida was fast and athletic, but physically no match. And that aligned with the stereotypes of their local high school kids. But as a team like Florida's recruiting footprint grew, Nebraska was stuck in the sand. Convincing the elite "athletes" from outside the midwest to come to Lincoln proved much harder than convincing the midwest's best players to go to the southeast, or Columbus, or the west coast. Maybe, with HUGE NIL investment it could happen, but do they have that treasure trove?
