Keep in mind, within the show, there's a documentary crew filming everything and interviewing him, which probably makes him feel all the more vindicated in everything he does. It's never mentioned directly, but I think Michael is aware that he's on camera and therefore feels the need to act that much more wacky to entertain the people watching. In a weird metatextual way, he suffers from main character syndrome, while actually being the main character in a TV show.
I think one thing that makes Michael Scott such a compelling character is we've all known a Michael Scott, and also, every single one of us has BEEN Michael Scott at various points in our lives.
This was actually insightful, especially the bullying influencing how he insults others Ryan next please
It's happening. Everybody stay calm
Holly and Michael’s story arc was honestly the sweetest and most endearing love story of any show I’ve ever seen. I always think of the scene when he calls her in a panic because he doesn’t think he can move to Colorado, and they way she calms hims and makes him laugh is so beautiful ❤
The Office died once Michael left. No one could ever replace Steve in that role
Holy shit that backstory is heart breaking
One of my favorite moments is when Michael and Dwight find Ryan at a club in New York and Ryan gets excited and hugs them because he's on drugs, and Michael is shocked that Ryan is happy to see them. "Ryan, it's Michael and Dwight." "I know it's you guys!" It shows that Michael is much more self aware than he lets on.
Steve made this guy sing to millions of people. No matter how bad he messed up, you couldn't hate Michael because you could see that heart beating out of his chest every time he bombastically burst his buttons.
