What if our entire understanding of reality is just an illusion shaped by evolution? Could the universe be a sophisticated virtual reality created by our own minds for our own good? And does free will exist after all? Joining me today to explore these profound questions is none other than Donald Hoffman! I think it's really important to state that Dr Hoffman spends hours each day in quiet meditation. No music or frequencies. Just silence. He's like the ancient monk philosopher who uses intuition to speculate about the nature of reality, except he has the formal knowledge to put a model together that can be tested through the modern scientific method. A modern day Renaissance man!

Dr Hoffman cracks me up. He’s such a radical, but he says it so nicely, calmly and sweetly that he just flies under the radar.. I think he’s on the money for what it’s worth. Thanks gents 👌

Sometimes I wonder if Free Will is more like the concept of Infiniti instead of a "it exists or doesn't." The ability to make a choice to act upon Free Will depends primarily on self awareness (why do I do what I do?), environment (how am I influenced), and also access to resources and knowledge (what can I do) through experience or social structures. Free Will sounds like the concept of Infiniti to me: you can always approach it but you can never actually reach it or observe it in nature. So it's not "real" by a physical, observable method, but neither is the concept of Infiniti yet it's absolutely needed for higher functioning math the way Free Will is needed for a higher functioning life. Gratitude for the video. Great way to start my day!

Brian Keating's curiousity for "all things considered" is admirable and infectious!

I’m only getting about 30% of what Donald Hoffman is saying, but it sounds like he’s on to something. Very interesting. Thank you for this.

The poor quality of editing and commercials are unfortunate and inconsistent with Hoffman's brilliant content
