The Mazda CX-5 was always the SUV for families who wanted style AND performance. Now it looks like Mazda has left some zoom-zoom on the table. Do you think its good looks are enough to steal buyers away from Honda and Toyota?
I'm so sick of digital climate/audio controls... can't wait for this trend to die completely.
Am I the only one who wants good safety features, physical buttons and knobs, a backup camera, and easy entry and egress? I could care less about fancy infotainment systems. Oh, and by the way, I want a spare tire and good mpg also.
I own a ‘21 RAV4 Prime. A plug-in hybrid. It currently has 94,000 miles. Now that the warmer weather is here I’m getting 50 miles each day on the HEV battery and 42 miles in the winter. I drove to Seattle and back recently, driving from sea level over a 3,000’ pass, 240 miles each way and averaged 40mpg to and from. So far I’ve had to replace tires, wiper blades, oil, filters and the original 12v battery. Oh, and the windshield was replaced after a rock cracked it. Insurance. So far I’ve been running 60% Electric and 40% gas over the life of the car. I charge it every night at home. I keep meticulous records of my gas and electric consumption. This has been the best auto purchase of my life and I’m over 70. When I purchased mine I found it to be noticeably quieter than the hybrid RAV4. I would expect the new model would be the same. My fully loaded XSE cost $48K new. A comparable 2026 model is $53K. But when I bought mine I qualified for the federal $7500 tax credit and $2500 Oregon rebate. I ended up paying less the hybrid cost at the time. Thank you EDMUNDS for the comprehensive comparison.
Thank you for the video. But from rotary dial to pure touch screen is not an upgrade it is literally a downgrade. Buttons and dials are way better and also more expensive vs touch screen
CRV needs a refresh and a few extra features but its still, hands down, the best of the 3 in my opinion
I can’t believe how stupid the rav4 interior is. They made buttons for things people seldom or never use and put all the most used controls into the touchscreen. What!?!?!? How often is anyone especially a rav4 driver turning off traction control? Never am I right. But that’s a huge ass button. Insane. Absolutely idiotic.
I had a recent 1400 km trip with the European CX-5 2026 (Homura, AWD). I've got 36 mpg (US) combined (some highways, 'normal' roads, cities, passing through mountains on winding roads). So it's not as bad as on paper.
It's a shame mazda messed up the new cx-5.
Overall fantastic job on this video. Thank you for creating it. One comment I don't understand though: "Although there is more room in the back of this CRV it's just not as versatile". Stated while sitting inside the back of the CRV when that didn't seem possible in the CX-5 or RAV4. That seems pretty versatile to me.
