This might be his breakout role, but curious if anyone has already suggested his FIRST movie, 'TAPS'? A bit of a forgotten, but incredible film. I think it might've been Sean Penn's first role too.
"I've got a mid-term tomorrow and I'm being chased by Guido the killer pimp!" Oh god, it's been so long since I heard that lol. So classic.
Watching Cassie transition from Mom mode to Teen mode in order to truly experience the movie is priceless 😂
Rebecca De Mornay was just stunning in this movie. I forgot Booger from Revenge of the Nerds and Bronson Pinchot were in this flick.
Saw this in the theater when it first came out. The line my friends and I always remember is the car repair guy asking "Who's the U-Boat commander?"
I was a high school senior when this movie came out, and I can tell you that it viscerally captured all the sexual frustration and deep angst of impending adulthood that we teenage boys felt. Every one of us understood Joel on a profoundly deep level, but none of us would have had the balls to do any of the stuff he did. The movie was both cathartic and terrifying at the same time. A genuine classic for any guy who was a teenager in the early 1980s.
"Back before door cameras and house cameras." Aye! It was a great time.
Rayban Sun glasses sky rocketed after this movie. dont forget to check out " the Outsiders "
The score in this movie by Tangerine Dream elevated this movie a few notches. And personally speaking, as a 14 year old boy when this was released, Rebecca DeMornay was quite the awakening.
Tom cruise is single handedly responsible for the boom in ray ban and aviator sun glasses after this movie and top gun haha
