I just want the software to be made by people who know what they're doing. It's not about making everyone feel warm and fuzzy. It's about making good software.

Vibe Coders: Here's some code I spent no time writing and no time reading! Open Source Maintainers: Ok, I'm going to spend the same amount of time on it as you did and chuck it in the bin. Vibe Coders: How rude of you to reject all my hard work!

Contributing to a project is not a fundamental human right. You're not welcome in my house unless I welcome you.

Open source, by definition, means everyone can REVIEW all of the source code. That’s it. Open source does not mean that ANYONE can CONTRIBUTE to the source code. I think a lot of people just don’t get that’s what it means, they’re just used to being able to suggest stuff and expect it’ll be considered. That ain’t how open source works.

No open source maintainer is under any obligation to accept anything he does not like - for any reason. Poor quality slop seems to actually be the best reason NOT to accept a PR. If the anyone is offended by that why not go ahead and make a fork.

That's funny, in a different context, I think DHH would be the first person to tell you that not all programmers are, in fact, equal.

"I have found a really good cadence and a way to use AI that both makes me feel like I am getting some of the benefits of it while just being purely in control" - I would love a video, even high level, where you demonstrate what this looks like in practice for you

15:00 "As the changes started piling in, I started kind of losing control on the project" - that's the AI company's product market fit moment.
