Description

Is the updated 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE the new king of midsize luxury SUVs, or do its questionable looks hold it back? Dive into our hands-on first look to find out! 👇 Appraisal Tool – https://www.edmunds.com/appraisal/ Car Listings – https://www.edmunds.com/new-cars-for-sale/ Ratings and Reviews – https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/ 00:00 Intro 00:54 Exterior 03:56 Interior & tech 08:33 Cargo 09:27 Powetrain 10:28 Edmunds' Take The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE has arrived, and it brings a fascinating mix of more tech, better hybrids, and some potentially polarizing styling choices to the luxury SUV landscape. As one of the most anticipated new cars for the upcoming model year, this updated Mercedes SUV aims to defend its title as the brand's best-selling vehicle in the U.S. But is more tech actually more luxurious, or are some of these changes just gimmicks? On the outside, the 2027 Mercedes GLE gets a heavy visual refresh, highlighted by an abundance of three-pointed stars in the grille and headlights. While it certainly broadcasts that you're driving a Benz, the high-volume branding and black plastic grille surround might not be for everyone. Inside, however, the Mercedes GLE sees a massive tech upgrade with the standard inclusion of the MBUX Superscreen. Thankfully, Mercedes listened to feedback and brought back physical volume dials and steering wheel switches, blending the massive screen real estate with tactile controls. Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLE powertrain lineup gets a serious jolt. While the base GLE 350 carries over its 2.0-liter turbo-four, the real news is the expanded plug-in hybrid options. For performance enthusiasts, the AMG GLE lineup takes two massive leaps forward. The GLE 500e replaces the old plug-in hybrid with tons more power from a turbo six-cylinder engine, and the new GLE 53 now gets a plug-in hybrid setup pushing out an impressive 577 horsepower, which Mercedes says will cut half a second off the outgoing model's 0-60 time. If you're in the market for a premium new SUV, the refined interior, upgraded air suspension, and potent new powertrains make the GLE a highly compelling package. While the final price is expected to climb closer to the $70,000 mark, this midsize staple remains the proper luxury sweet spot in the Mercedes lineup. Would rather have the outgoing model, the screens are too much and the front end looks like it's melting

It’s heinous. Mercedes has truly lost their way.

Why there are no display outside ? We need one on trunk that show what is inside and one on bonnet ( to show everybody your motor). It’s better they’ll be about 30” approximately

Not a fan of the ridiculous MB stars all over the front but that black plastic between the grill and headlights is hideous. I have a 2021 GLC63 and a 2022 GLE63 in my household and I won't be running to my dealer to replace either one.

Every MB since 2021 has looked like a blobfish with the three-pointed star slapped on it. This is probably the most accurate iteration of the blobfish look.
