Description

Can the RAM 1500’s incredible luxury and smooth ride overcome its frustrating reliability issues? We spent 12 months with this pickup truck to see if it’s truly the best in its class. On paper, this is easily our favorite pickup truck. The turbocharged inline-six engine is a masterpiece, delivering smooth power and impressive torque that makes it one of the best powertrains in the segment. Whether we were highway cruising or testing its towing capacity by hauling a race car to the track, the Ram 1500 remained composed and incredibly capable. The interior continues to set the standard for luxury trucks. The air suspension provides a cloud-like ride, and a cabin the cabin is filled with premium materials. You get massaging seats, too. It became the go-to vehicle for staff road trips and family duties, but long-term ownership revealed some significant cracks in the veneer. More concerning were the repeated electronic glitches. From "service shifter" errors that prevented the truck from starting to a laggy infotainment system and hypersensitive hands-free driving tech, the Ram 1500 often felt unfinished. While it never fully stranded us, the frequent "phantom" warning lights and CarPlay disconnects grew tiresome for a truck costing nearly $90,000. Ultimately, while we love how the Ram drives, its inconsistent reliability makes it hard to recommend over more polished rivals like the Ford F-150. So the electric and tech complaints make sense, but a bunch of people that clearly can’t drive a full size truck well complaining about it “being to big and scary in the city” seems ridiculous, it’s a full size truck why would that ever even be a complaint other than just to have a longer video

You can tell the people who feel sketchy driving a half ton truck in a city aren’t truck people… lol

Complaining about tow mirrors and the size of the vehicle when they know it's a full size truck meant to tow and be used... LOL

I had a few electrical bugs like memory set losing the settings and the speed alarm setting being forgotten all the time, both fixed with software update. I did find door trim not staying flush when door opens by the hinges and the subwoofer was blown. Both repaired under warranty. Drive train has been trouble free, level II auto drive has been trouble free. No truck is perfect in this new world, but I would purchase again if needed.

I’ve been Looking at buying a new truck. With reliability being the biggest factor I really have no confidence in anything that is currently available.

I bought my 2025 Limited Longhorn with the HO Hurricane the second week of August. I have been lucky so far and have had no issues except keeping my foot out of it! I traded my MPT 93 PRX tuned 2019 Raptor in for it and have not missed the Raptor like I thought I would. I love this truck and try to find reasons to drive it.

Do you think the Ram’s positives outweigh its negatives? Or would you rather opt for something like a Ford F-150?

I absolutely love my 2025 LIMITED. Got a software update that perked up the UConnect system and so far so good with the drive train. H.O. really scoots!

I feel like the reviews right before and after this were a toaster oven and an espresso machine.

My neighbor owns a 2026 RAM Tungsten model and says it puts his 2024 Mercedes S-Class to shame in the interior. He has no complaints, only praise, and loves every inch of the truck. It is beautiful inside and out.
