Aaron Alexander & Andrew Gordon dive into The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (2015), the epic conclusion to Suzanne Collins’ YA dystopian saga, directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Catching Fire). This high-stakes finale follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence – Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) as she leads the rebellion against the tyrannical President Snow (Donald Sutherland – Ordinary People, Pride & Prejudice). Joined by Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth – The Last Song, The Expendables 2) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson – Bridge to Terabithia, The Kids Are All Right), Katniss and her team infiltrate the Capitol in a desperate attempt to end Snow’s reign. Other key characters include Alma Coin (Julianne Moore – Still Alice, Magnolia), who orchestrates the rebellion with questionable motives, and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman – Capote, The Master), whose final appearance adds gravitas to the film. Sam Claflin (Me Before You, Enola Holmes) shines as Finnick Odair, while Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, Elementary) portrays the fearless Cressida. Mockingjay Part 2 is packed with iconic and highly searched moments: the infiltration of the Capitol with “pods” and deadly traps, the shocking wedding of Finnick and Annie, the heartbreaking deaths of key allies, and the explosive final confrontation between Katniss and President Snow that cements her as the Mockingjay. The powerful closing scenes, including Katniss’ decision regarding Coin and the bittersweet epilogue with Peeta and their children, make this one of the most memorable finales in YA film history. #HungerGames #MockingjayPart2 #JenniferLawrence #KatnissEverdeen #JoshHutcherson #LiamHemsworth #JulianneMoore #PhilipSeymourHoffman #YAadaptation #MovieReaction #HungerGamesFinale #SuzanneCollins #YoungAdult #YoungAdultNovel #Movie #Movies #React #ReactTo #Reaction Weapons (2025) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/-2Pwi8zyVRk Batman Forever (1995) Movie Commentary: https://youtu.be/CRelRdHODqY Stranger Things 4, Episode 7 Reaction: https://youtu.be/TlJykxMYgBs Follow Andrew Gordon On Socials: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@MovieSource Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/agor711/?hl=en Twitter: https://twitter.com/Agor711 Follow Aaron On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therealaaronalexander/?hl=en 0:00 Checking In! 1:50 Hunger Games Mockingjay Reaction 30:30 LIQUID IV 31:57 Mockingjay Movie Reaction 1:00:58 Mockingjay Part 1 Review Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ RR Clips & Shorts Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ReelRejectsClips Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Head Editor: https://www.instagram.com/praperhq/?hl=en Supervising Producer: https://twitter.com/nerdchronic?lang=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Co-Editor: John Humphrey Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG PLAYLISTS: Movie Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw-comtadVs8b9JsZEWHUyr8 Sketches & Short Films: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_zWuTRfBOUP3aYyIYRzc2y

Katniss would have never agreed, Haymitch knew that. He saw she had a plan, and so he voted to allow her to carry it out.

Keep in mind that Haymich’s trauma is not only from his own games, but the fact that for 24 years he has been the only living victor from District 12, which means he’s had to mentor 2 kids every year that he knows are probably going to die.

Mind you Suzanne Collins knew Prim was going to die before she’d even mapped out the series 😭 Her death hit so much harder in the book. And let’s not forget Prim thought Katniss was dead until she heard her calling her name.

Also it’s hard to tell but at 53:43 she grabs her nightlock pill. She thinks she’ll be killed by Coins loyalists, and she’s ready to die. But Peeta grabs it out of her hand, saving her life… but that’s why she panicked… she thinks she’s being dragged off to more torture. She was ready to die.

Watching Jennifer Lawrence scream at that cat after Prim dies, will never not make me sob in my bed alone. Jennifer really killed it in these movies. But she also killed my emotional stability. Thank you, Suzanne Collins.

In the first book, Katniss mentions that she would never have children because it was cruel to bring them into a world where they could possibly have to fight in the Hunger Games... so it's really full circle that she has kids with Peeta after they've eliminated the Hunger Games. She feels the world is safe enough to bring children into it

Peeta's greatest fear going into the first Hunger Games was the Capitol turning him into something he's not. Fast forward three movies...

Philip Seymour Hoffman past before so they had haymitch bring a letter. So he had few scenes left but because he died they obviously had to change it but it’s barely noticeable and having haymitch read out the letter is a good alternative.

President Coin is called that because she is the other side of the same coin as Snow. They are both the same. Just as ruthless, heartless, and power hungry. Willing to do anything for their own gain.
