A serious question: As designers, aren’t we contributing enormously to the great evil that humanity is currently facing in the digital world? Aren’t we the root of all evil when we manipulate—or at the very least exploit—the human psyche in this way? Can we ethically justify this? Is this what we want?

If you are using the dopamine hooks in a gambling app then you are succeeding as a UX designer but failing as a human being. You are voluntarily contributing to a well researched and known problem. You have became part of the problem. If you were using examples from an app that aims to help users be more healthy then I would applause you and share your content. Instead I hate this video.

Great video. I hope for more regulations. All these addicting apps are bad and we can't just blame the user. Many people I know says they would prefer not to spend that much time on social media and e-commerce sites, but they can't. So, let's start treating this as an actual addiction. Governments regulate drugs.
