Testing acceleration in Track Mode makes the car slower. Just leave it in Insane Mode and you will be much quicker. If you preheat the battery by navigating to a Supercharger it will go much faster especially in the 1/4 mile. Please retest the car with the proper settings. Track Mode is for road courses where the sustained acceleration and deceleration requires battery cooling. It should never be used for Drag Racing. If you put the car in Track Mode first then the battery is already cold. You have to manually heat it back up or it will be slower. Just use Insane Mode.
Doing some quick checking, the Ioniq N is over $10k more not including discounts/tax credits and has over 50 miles less range. As an EV owner, to me, those things matter. Well done Tesla.
In the model 3, when the power is set all to the rear it only occurs while turning. That is why you could not hold a drift continuously when changing direction. It's also why the 0 to 60 and quarter mile are the same. (Because you're not turning.)
It’s not really a track car, however the rest of the vehicle, including the chart topping range, is phenomenal for the price. And don’t forget it’s 800lbs lighter than the Ionia 5N and has another 50 miles in real world range! Tesla did a fantastic job in the new Model 3 Perf.
Do you think the Model 3 Performance lives up to the hype? Let us know in the comments!
You forgot to mention at the end regarding the federal tax credit that, at least in the US market, if you select FSD option, you get to add paint color and interior seat color choices for free and still get full tax credit.
My M3P is a sleeper daily driver. If I wanted a track EV, would’ve bought an Ionic5 N. I still have a gas project toy, so having a fast plug-in sleeper sports sedan that handles daily situations but can still carve a canyon while getting limited attention is my jam. That’s where the M3P shines — it’s plenty fun in daily legal-ish road situations and I spend most of my time in it. If I’m ever at the track, it stays plugged in at home. Ionic 5N is definitely the all-in-one package, but I love having a fast daily sleeper while keeping the miles low on my garage project
Wow Edmunds range confirming that Tesla knows what is doing with efficiency!

Thanks for talking about steering feel and input. I feel like we’ve moved away from talking about how bad new car steering has gotten. Lookin at you BMW
