The part about real power being calm, steady, and quiet, and not loud or needy really struck me. Not long ago, somebody was giving me advice on dealing with toxic people and they told me that you don’t have to be assertive or have to prove you’re worthy of respect. Composure can be its own quiet power, as reacting is not winning. When you’re calm and composed, it means the the aggressor doesn’t get the pleasure of knowing they got to you.

Wow, this hit me hard. I'm 40. I'm a SergeantMajor in the army. The mask, the image, everything was a mask to protect hurt and to look tough. But this... This resonated deeply. Thank you Chase Hughes.

I just told my daughter, the other day, that I have had this problem of over explaining myself my whole life and many people have told me that I over explain myself to the point that people think I'm lying. It was only my own insecurities and the last 2yrs I've been much better with not responding or over explaining myself.

"Silence is your sword and self-control is your shield" "You were never too sensitive " "If you crave affection... you are not in control, you are under control" "Being unavailable isn't closing your heart, it's guarding your sense of peace." You're going to make me cry 😭 Thank you for sharing your light with the world 🙏
