Authenticity is the most valuable currency there is. If you want something from me, approach me honestly and I’ll consider what you’re offering. Try to force compliance, and you’ll get nothing from me—ever.

I had read Power Behind The Curtain by Dave Rumsfeld a couple of years back and I agree with all your points! I think the book deserves more attention, personally, since it highlights exactly what you talk about. The stories are wild and it is hard to put down once you start reading.

Compliance is losing…stand up for your values it’s the most liberating feeling you will EVER experience!

What I heard: Test: when someone agrees with you, does the energy in the room go up or down? If they agree and the energy drops, you just got compliance. If they lean in and the energy goes up, that’s alignment.

Many times I have had managers tell me what to do, to do what is absolutely wrong, blatantly wrong, and I have walked out of that company. Values are most important, honesty and integrity worth more than anything else. Strong people are those who value honesty and integrity, will not cow down to those that are control freaks that demand to do what is wrong.
