Think about who’s in charge of these AI companies and their attitude of “if I don’t ruin the world first, somebody else will.” Starts to make perfect sense.

Don't worry, we are already terrified. What's really terrifying tough is the fact that the Genie is already out of the bottle and there's nothing we can do about it. Whatever happens - happens. Good luck everybody!

What is glossed over in this conversation is the monetary incentive for tech CEOs to pursue AI advancement regardless of any safety concerns. They don’t care about any potential existential risks that will come. Greed and the promise of power will make people do anything.
