I’m Gen X and someone asked me recently what I would do if I were “in charge” of the world. Without hesitation, “Turn off the Internet”.
They're building bunkers to protect against the majority showing up with torches and pitchforks.
I cant express how much i appreciate just jumping right into it. No 5 minute intro or over hyped preview montage or glazing your own ego. Nice. Genuinely refreshing
And once they go in their bunkers we need to seal them off PERMANENTLY from the rest of the world
You guys are close, but there's one thing you're missing: history. Those of us who are older remember the 1970s, when corporations began moving jobs to low-cost countries in Asia. At first, the argument was that only manufacturing would move. Ownership, executive leadership, sales, and management would remain in the United States. However, there were people who warned that this process would eventually destroy far more jobs. What happened over the following decades was that not only did manufacturing move, but in many cases the companies themselves effectively moved as well. What was left behind were hollowed-out towns where manufacturing had once thrived. Many of those communities still haven't recovered. Those of us old enough to remember that era see AI in a similar way. Many executives believe they are replacing labor while their own jobs remain secure. But if general labor can be replaced or outsourced, management and executive functions can be as well. Eventually, even the company itself can be displaced. The fact that so many major manufacturers today are Chinese companies rather than American companies illustrates how dramatically things can change over time. I see the same dynamic with AI. In the pursuit of greater productivity and profitability through labor reduction, companies may ultimately be working themselves out of a job. The historical parallel is the piece many people are missing. Otherwise, you've described what could very well happen with AI. Everyone is, in a sense, automating themselves out of a job and a paycheck.
We are not angry enough. 6 people should not just get to change humanity on their whim.

Watching from Ukraine. Very sobering and informative, yet hopeful... with no guarantees... Need to watch the doc. Leaving a comment, so the algorithm suggests this video to more people. Best regards to all. Peace.
Big Tech can’t even agree on a universal headphone or power plug. We are doomed if we leave it up to them AGAIN.
Great interview. I’m co-founder of CAGI, and this speaks directly to the agenda discussed here. It may not unfold exactly as described in this interview, but it is far better to assume it could and take action today than wait until it is too late to respond effectively.
