I worked as a statistician for several insurance companies and Marc Andreesen the General Partner at A16H could not possibly be less informed about the state of healthcare in the USA right now. The class warfare is a lie, which is always has been, but the USA healthcare system has been completely corrupted by the government and insurance. Marc honestly needs to go get 3 doctors drunk, and get them to talk about insurance. They will refuse at first, but you need to get them to open up, and they super super hate the insurance companies for turning their health care into dollars and manipulating and controlling them. After talking to 3 doctors who will inform you that the system is screwed up, go get 3 actuaries or statisticians drunk, and they will explain the corruption of how it works.

Thanks so much for this interview! Super interesting to actually hear details about Elons work process, not justr superficial questions
United healthcare reported a profit of $22 billion in 2023. For insurance that’s mandated by the government. You can’t laugh this off. This is absolutely extracted. Profit, not revenue
I wonder why no one asks Marc about “Forever California” and the great philanthropic contributions he’s making 🤔
13:45 Er, no. Singapore's Central Provident Fund (CPF) is co-funded by employees, employers & government. Currently ~4.5m account holders have ~S$400 billion (~USD300 billion) in real assets that are individually assigned, not pooled. Separately, Singapore has TWO Sovereign Wealth funds, GIC ~S$770 billion & Temasek ~S$680 billion. So, at least one country has fully funded housing, health & retirement in place. There are gaps in social provision at the margins, though these are (slowly) being addressed. In a country of ~5.9m, no slums, ~<600 homeless.
I’m just a bill, and I’m sitting here on capital Hill. I remember 44:53
I’m glad Marc broached the question of delegation and Elon’s approach. Delegation isn’t the opposite of micromanagement. It’s a question of context, strata, formal/informal influence, courage, visibility, risk taking, etc. It’s a rare leader who has these qualities.
Drinking game if you want to get hospitalised: drink every time Marc says «you know». 😂 But jokes aside, love you Marc! I’ll click on any video with you in it!❤
The read-in to the hidden pains of being a CEO had me creased up... perfect!
