Californian here. Majority of the voters here are a direct threat to themselves, to put it simply.
Turns out there is a breaking point where people will leave. Weird.
The most annoying part of the billionaire tax is the implication is “we take it from them, and give it to you via services”, when in reality it is “we take it from them, and piss it away through government incompetence and waste, while nothing really changes for you”. But now the overtone window has shifted, and it is easier to make the case to take more and more. As David pointed out “the system eats itself”

Minnesota just put up their proposal for a Wealth Tax
“Bullet train to nowhere” was promised 15 years ago for $30B. It’s now expected to be $136B. It will be more than that if it’s ever actually completed. 60 Minites just did a piece on this if you’re interested.
