Lyonel seems right at home with the jazz playing in the background. I genuinely feel bad for Maekar. He's not a bad guy. He truly didn't mean to kill his brother. He's just a dad trying to do the best he can with the hand (kids) he's been dealt. Aerion is a monster, Daeron may not have told Maekar about his visions so he might just see him as a drunk and not as someone trying to cope with his visions. So in his mind, so his last hope of having a "good" heir rests on Aegon. Deep down he probably knows that Duncan is probably right but he can't risk losing him. On a brighter note, I love how Duncan pretends to not know Rowan when Raymun introduces her to him. Why burst his naive bubble and reveal her past. He's a good guy. Fun fact- the actress that plays Rowan's real name is Rowan.
Poor Maekar... - his wife just recently passed - just sent his 3rd son away as a maester - unintentionally kill his own brother - his 1st son is just drunkard - his 2nd son is a delulu and he sent him away too - his last son ditch him away cant make shit up more than this dont we lmao
The significance of Maekar, coming upon Egg about to kill Arion, his big brother, has instant symbolism in the context of what Maekar has just experienced himself. Maekar is the youngest of his siblings and he accidentally killed his big brother. Thankfully, he thwarted Egg, who is the youngest of his siblings, from deliberately killing his own big brother.
Dunk and Egg riding through the meadow while Ser Arlan turns and rides off to the horizon is officially my favorite final shot of any season in the Ice And Fire universe. It feels like something out of the old fantasy books and movies I grew up on. No warring houses, no malicious family members to contend with, no dragons even. Just a lone wolf and cub, riding off into the horizon to try and make the world a better place however they can, no matter how little or how large the change.
I love the ending when Maekar said "Where TF is he" it sent me laughing
17:55 There's 9 regions in Westeros, but at the time of Aegon's Conquest there were 7 kings. Afterwards, the Riverlands sided with the Targaryens, so were allowed to secede from the king of the Isles and Rivers. The Crownlands were created around King's Landing as a special administrative zone.
Lady Ashford: You're good, I don't blame you for ruining my sweet 16. Dunk, barely walking: 👍
Loved this episode! I’m so glad Dunk’s conversation with Daeron is what ultimately persuaded him to speak with Maekar again and reconsider taking Egg back as his squire. He now has the opportunity to help shape a future king—just as Ser Arlan shaped him—giving Egg the chance to become a capable, wise, and truly great ruler of Westeros. Also, low-key, that final scene with Maekar asking for Egg loosely reminded me of Kevin’s mom realizing he was missing in Home Alone, lol. Fantastic first season—can’t wait for Season 2!
This show has been fantastic, it has that warm LOTR feeling while still taking place in Westeros. Truly this kind of show is what was needed at the present time, heartfelt and warm.
it's hilarious how many times through out the show Achara's response to something is the exact same as Dunk's ahahahah
