HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS (2003) Movie Reaction! | Kate Hudson | Matthew McConaughey w/ Jaby Koay
Reviewers Praise Chemistry and Dual Schemes in *How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days*
This review highlights why the dual, opposing schemes between Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey elevate this early 2000s rom-com above standard fare. Readers gain insight into which character arcs and supporting roles truly drive the film's charm and unexpected realism.
Short Summary
- The script masterfully handles the central conflict where both leads pursue opposing 10-day goals simultaneously, creating high comic tension.
- Matthew McConaughey delivers a compelling performance that serves as a bridge between his early rom-com antics and his later dramatic phase.
- Kate Hudson excels in comedic timing, making her character’s deliberately antagonistic actions highly watchable and relatable to a degree.
- Reviewers noted the ensemble cast, particularly Kathryn Hahn, significantly enhanced the believability and outlandishness of the supporting world.
- The film successfully subverts genre expectations by ending not at an airport, but on a bridge, symbolizing a new dynamic.
This discussion breaks down the execution of the film's premise, focusing on how the chemistry between the leads overcomes predictable romantic comedy "beats." We analyze specific chaotic dating moments, the absurdity of the diamond campaign pitch, and the satisfying subversion of the typical apology montage.

They really just threw in two very gorgeous and talented actors together, gave them an amazing script, and gave us arguably the best romcom of the early 2000s.
I would suggest: Bride Wars, 27 dresses, New Years Eve, Valentine’s Day, and Crazy Stupid Love
Good ol’ reliable “you’re the first girl he has ever brought home” never fails in our rom coms
I know McConaughey wanted to escape rom-coms but he was great in them. The Wedding Planner, Ghost of Girlfriends Past, Ed TV, Failure to Launch... All great reaction material.
Talk about early 2000’s Rom-Com nostalgia. 🥰
i love when men react to this movie because you guys get soooooo angry during the basketball game scene and as a non sports fan it’s just hilarious.
I don't know what it says about you, Jaby, that every time she got a scheming look on her face, you called it falling in love. But the one time she had a clear look of infatuation, you basically said she's plotting LOL!
It's too funny seeing Jaby thinking TOO MUCH & questioning their actions against each other 😂😂😂
i definitely rewinded "you don't wanna wake up dead" and cried laughing each time. Brandon is funny 🤭🤣😂
My two favorite straight men watching my favorite rom-com. I had a huge smile on my face the entire video
