We have the completely redesigned 2026 Jeep Cherokee, stepping up as a hybrid-only model with a spacious new interior. But can it match up against America's most popular choice, the 2026 Toyota RAV4, or our reigning favorite, the 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid? We put them all through our rigorous Edmunds comparison testing to see which one comes out on top. The new Jeep Cherokee Hybrid offers a big, roomy interior with enough shoulder room to comfortably fit three passengers across the back seat, alongside a modern, screen-heavy tech interface. However, it struggles with overall efficiency and performance compared to its rivals, netting only 37 mpg combined while feeling like the heaviest and slowest option of the three. Meanwhile, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid remains a deeply practical choice, boasting ample interior storage options and the best gas mileage of the trio at 42 mpg combined. The electric motor makes it feel peppy around town, too, though its cabin plastics don't feel quite as premium as the materials in the competition. Then there's the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. It might be marginally less efficient than the others in the group at 36 mpg combined, but it excels in almost every other category. It delivers fantastic ride quality, a premium and well-thought-out interior, and an unbeatable 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. After tallying up the scores in our full review, the Jeep Cherokee couldn't quite keep up, failing to win a single category. The RAV4 put up a strong fight, but the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid ultimately claims the top spot as the Best SUV, winning or tying for the lead in six out of seven rating categories. Crazy how they never talk about resale and reliability

Against the Tucson and RAV4, the realistically Jeep never stood a chance. However, unlike the Escape and Equinox, it could at least put up somewhat of a fight...

If you're buying/financing; the RAV4 is the default winner based on residual values alone.

Then there is resale value and reliability as well Yeah no wonder the RAV4 was the most sold car

17:00 minute mark... The Tucson instrument cluster DOES INDEED show turn by turn directions. You need to use the buttons on the steering wheel to switch to the compass screen, which then becomes the turn by turn directions when a destination has been set in the navigation system or within carplay/AA.

For me Hyundai Tucson used to be the best in this class, but now with Toyota updating RAV4 on the design side outside and especially inside (infotainment system is huge upgrade) . the RAv4 is the new number one! Stelantis should do more with updating Jeep Cherokee on powertrain and interior, maybe lean more on their off-roady heritage (here in Slovenia Jeep/"Džip" we call it is just a name/synonym for all the SUVs). Hope at least new Compass we are getting will be bigger improvement. Another great video Edmunds team keep it up!

The new Jeep Cherokee is much improved over its predecessor, with its hybrid powertrain giving it a much-needed efficiency boost. But it still needs improvement to take on the best compact SUVs, so what do you think Jeep needs to do to make the Cherokee more competitive? Let us know in the comments below!

My two cents in the Jeep infotainment, I have a 2024 Wrangler and one of my favorite parts of the infotainment are the permanent menu widgets on the side. I personally get annoyed when I have to go theough 4 clicks just to exit Android Auto on a car. Personally, I dont think android auto needs to be any bigger. Anyways, great video as always!

This is a great video. The footage of each car, particularly the RAV4 driving down the street, are incredibly great. Lots of work, but the end result is you get a better idea of each car, so much faster than actually going to the dealer.
