It's me MT and welcome back to the heavy spoilers show! This is going to be a breakdown of One of my personal favorite Disney sequels ever, Tron Legacy from the year 2010! A movie with a soundtrack that will send your ears to a higher plane of existence. So let's go ahead and break this masterpiece down like it got derezzed shall we? Tron Legacy was directed by Joseph Kosinski and first released in Tokyo on November 30, 2010 before making its debut in the states a few weeks later on December 17, 2010. Steven Lisberger, the creator of Tron and the original film’s director, serves as a producer for the film while also providing consultation to the Tron Legacy production. Although Tron was Lisberger’s baby, he definitely wanted to give Koskinski and his massive production team their space to create their sequel their way. With the original Tron having been released in 1982, that means a full 28 years went by before Disney would try their hands at a sequel. Tron Legacy was the first time Joseph Kosinski had directed a major motion picture EVER…which is insane considering the $170 million dollars that Disney trusted him with in order to give them a successful Tron sequel. This would make Tron Legacy the film with the highest budget that has ever been made by a first time director. After Tron Legacy would go on to earn $409.9 million worldwide, Kosinski would go on to direct critically acclaimed films like 2022’s Top Gun Maverick and 2025’s F1.
