LDL Particle Health: Identifying the True Atherosclerosis Driver

Understand why merely knowing your total LDL number is misleading and learn the specific drivers that create pathological, small, dense LDL linked to heart disease.

Short Summary

  • Identify up to six primary drivers that convert harmless LDL into detrimental small dense particles.
  • Recognize that conventional lipid panels often hide crucial LDL particle size information, making risk assessment incomplete.
  • Shift focus from targeting total LDL levels to managing underlying metabolic health, like optimizing triglycerides and gut function.

Dr. Pradip Jamnadas explains that normal LDL is vital for life; the danger lies in small dense LDL, which macrophages consume, generating foam cells and driving atherosclerosis. This discussion pinpoints the metabolic, dietary, and toxic inputs causing this transformation and strongly advocates for ordering advanced testing to capture true cardiovascular risk stratification.

Thanks a lot dr. Jamanadas for your teaching. I am 57 yrs old female with high total chloesterol since last 13 yrs . I ignored that as my hdl was always above 50 mg/ dl . I. took statins only for a month. That also 8 yrs and 2 yrs ago for a month only. Was doing 16 /8 fasting with cheating and without any reduction in consumption of sweets. My weight reduced from 61 kg to 56 kg my joint pain ( mainly interphalangeal joints) lessen . But cholesterol remained high with ldl 192 mg/ dl and also sdldl 80.4 mg/dl . Done 2 weeks ago. And then after strict 16/8 fasting and reduction in sweets and carbohydrate consumption today my total cholesterol is reduced from 269 to 212 . LDL from 192 to 131 and triglycerides from 144 to 85. All in md/dl. Now I am motivated to do fasting Thanks dr. Pradeep Jamanadas . Love from Bharat (India).

By following Dr j I started fasting and have a 67 triglyceride level and high hdl level-which flipped my lipid panel upside down. Thank you doctor! I still need an advanced lipid panel
