Short Summary
- Adopt sufficient calories initially to prevent fatigue and hair loss associated with undernourishment.
- Prioritize fat intake, as it fuels daily activities, and understand that hunger signals become more subtle in ketosis.
- Re-evaluate traditional metrics like LDL cholesterol, recognizing that diabetes and functional capacity are stronger indicators of risk.

Carnivore means never having to eat less than you want. I would imagine that could be a difficult adjustment for people who have been "dieting" for years and restricting their intake. It's a new world once you realize there is no need to restrict.
Great podcast Jesse! I love the recaps you do after your guests answer your questions. So organized
Dr Shawn Baker! 😃 just listening to another “excellent” 🏆 conversation Jesse & Dr Baker 👏🏽👏🏽
I'm a 51 year old female who changed my physical and mental health 6 years ago eating a ketogenic lifestyle. Over the last 3 years, I've been mainly eating a carnivore diet. I started lifting heavy & strength training over 2 years ago. I'm thriving, and September 19th, 2025, will be my Ketoversary! ✌️ ❤️ 💪
I am 70 and I do not have any joint or health issues. I don't sprint but I use a Rower and Concept 2 Bike that sits in my living room. I don't lift heavy but I have a home gym that I use that I built in place of my master bedroom. The key is not to go overboard.
8 weeks in, I lost 10 lbs without changing activity level (moderately active), waste less time preparing and eating food, am becoming more productive, my motivation is up, I'm cutting back on suppliments to manage RA (expecting to eliminate suppliments at some point), feelling less and less AuDHD. I feel like I'm taking control of my life back.
Love me some liver and kidneys and heart. Grew up eating them. ❤
