As a six year carnivore I donβt even think about other foods all I know is Iβm healthy and feel ridiculously better than Iβve ever felt even as a child meat is all I need
I appreciate when you recap the conversation to tie all the information together, thanks
What a fascinating discussion - and Jesse, I continue to be SO impressed with the way you collect and summarize the key points from an interview and then build on those points in preparation for covering or returning to other topics.Β Thank you for the work you do! This discussion reminded me that someone (was it Ben Bikman?) had recently talked about studies where researchers saw a real difference in how different groups of people processed carbohydrates and how recognizing that difference existed made him more receptive to the idea of using GLP-1 drugs as an aid. I don't think the studies tried to explain why the difference existed, so I am thinking this seed oil idea might offer a hypothesis to study.
Has anyone notice these oils in all products ????
Dr. Anthony seems to be on the correct track for people like me that went Keto to recover from severe Diabetes. I have been on Keto for 6 years and as I have tried to re-introduce complex carbs to about 250 grams My A1c goes up from 4.7 to over 6 along with weight gain even with the total calories being equal. Exercise does very little to keep weight low until my fasting insulin levels drop back down along with my blood glucose is back under 100. When the glucose/insulin levels are low from sub 50 grams of carbs daily along with exercise, my weight can be easily controlled by my fat intake. The body builder weight cutting diet " chicken breast and Broccoli" along with light resistance training and 6 mile walks daily will drop 7 lbs a week without fail if my A1c is below 5 from carb restriction and 1 meal a day to increase the time my insulin levels are at a lower level.
The "hateful eight" seed oils often cited as problematic include canola (rapeseed), corn, cottonseed, grapeseed, rice bran, soybean, safflower, and sunflower oils. These oils are sometimes criticized for their high omega-6 fatty acid content and potential for oxidative damage during processing and cooking. Elaboration: High Omega-6 Content: These oils are rich in omega-6 fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid. While omega-6s are essential, excessive intake can potentially lead to imbalances in the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, which may contribute to inflammation. Processing and Heat: Industrial seed oils are often highly refined, which involves heating the oil to high temperatures to separate fatty acids. This process can create harmful byproducts and may affect the nutritional value of the oil. Alternatives: Some recommend avoiding these oils and opting for alternatives like extra-virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, and animal fats like tallow. Context Matters: While these oils are sometimes criticized, it's important to consider that the real issue may not be the oil itself, but rather the highly processed foods they are often used in. Dr. Cate Shanahan's research and others: Some health experts and researchers, like Dr. Cate Shanahan, have raised concerns about the potential negative health impacts of consuming high amounts of industrial seed oils.
Great questioning, Jesse β you consistently bring valuable insights! THANK YOU ππΌ
Super-useful. Thanks.
Exactly my path, OMAD to Paleo to Keto to Carnivore to Ray Peat, and now I'm on 2 meals a day, minimum PUFA, moderate carbs and as much animal protein as I can pack in, still staying from high sugar processed foods and definitely no vegetable shortening and other highly processed fats
