Rejecting Dietary Diversity Myths for Species-Appropriate Eating Principles

Cut through marketing noise to understand why a species-appropriate diet, even a narrow one, often outperforms complex, varied food sourcing for optimal human and animal health.

Short Summary

  • Reject the "eat the rainbow" slogan as primarily a marketing construct designed to increase corporate profits.
  • Recognize that complication in diet, whether for humans or pets, directly creates profit opportunities for supplement and specialized food manufacturers.
  • Simple, narrow, historically practiced diets such as beef, butter, bacon, and eggs (BBBE) frequently offer superior foundational nutrition compared to expensive, highly varied plant-based alternatives.

This discussion with Dr. Ken Berry focuses on establishing biological truths over manufactured dietary trends. We examine why simplification aligns with optimal health for humans and livestock, contrasting this with the economic incentives driving dietary complexity.

I ate the rainbow for the first 63 years of my life, and I tanked my health. I've spent the past 5 years pretty much eating only meat, eggs, and butter, and I'm reclaiming my health.

When I started the carnivore 2 years ago, i thought my food bill was going to go through the roof. But what happened was I started saving money. For one I didn’t want to go out to eat anymore and shopping was more confined and we noticed the food bill was cut by a third or more.

I’ve been feeding my pets, kibble for many years until recently. My older cat died from stomach cancer. For her last year we were cleaning up the most god-awful vomit you can imagine. Our younger cat was eating the same diet and he started puking the same way. I completely cut him off Kibble. Nothing but meat now. Perfectly healthy, perfect weight. Don’t feed your pets kibble.

Our ancestors were omnivores......they literally ate everything to survive......meat, fish, nuts, berries, roots, seeds, plants, insects.....whatever was available in that area for that climate season. Problem is much of the food sources today have been genetically modified and don't come close to ancestral foods
