Feathers McGraw whipping out that gun is one of my favourite jokes in any movie, absolutely perfect all round
My wife and I always explain we're out of cheese in Wallace's voice whenever there's a shortage in the house
The Wrong Trousers is probably the finest 25 minutes ever committed to film. It is PERFECTION.
This duo have cemented themselves in British culture for life.
I’ll never forget watching the climax of The Wrong Trousers for the first time when I was 4 years old. I can’t even imagine how much creativity and genius it took to turn something as silly as a dog chasing a gun wielding penguin on a model train set into something that intense. We will never see anything like Wallace and Gromit ever again. It’s truly one of a kind.
This brought such a grin to my face. Wallace & Gromit goes beyond a tv/film franchise; it is a part of the national soul, just as much as Test Match Special, a cup of tea or a red telephone box. If you ever meet someone who says they don't like Wallace & Gromit, they can be regarded as being as trustworthy as Feathers McGraw.
The Wrong Trousers really is the best of all the installments…so far. It proved that a Wallace and Gromit film could be told with the utmost cinematic language and rise above being just another children’s program.
"It's no use prevaricating about the bush" has got to be one of my favourite lines from any movie ever; so much so that I actually use it in real life sometimes. It perfectly encapsulates the juxtaposition of Wallace's genius and idiocy.
In one interview, Peter Sallis, Wallace's voice until his death, told Nick Park of his concern that the train chase scene wouldn't work. Nick Park replied to him in two words: 'Trust me'. According to a book I read years ago, filming the train chase scene in The Wrong Trousers was exhausting as the animators - including Nick Park - worked on it around the clock. I've been a fan of W&G for thirty years, and I'm relieved Nick Park filmed the train chase scene and, to this day, the animators at Aardman's energy and hard work is still appreciated and it all paid off handsomely in many ways.
I’m a student at the National Film and TV School, and it’s safe to say Wallace and Gromit hold a special place here. They literally greet you as you walk in.
