They are wrong Once you hit about 30 it REALLY starts to show who did and didn't have to do chores as a child EDIT: Matt if you end up talking about this please note the entire comment section full of adults with various serious regrets themselves about not being made to do chores as a child ranging from ongoing issues with work and life to guilt over leaving everything to their mothers to do.

If kids don't have chores while they grow up, how are they magically going to be able to take care of themselves once they become an adult. Knowing how to clean up after yourself, make a meal, shovel snow, mow the lawn and so on helps a child learn to do things that they are going to be doing as an adult. These skills aren't magically downloaded into our brains when we move out and start living on our own.

Dad provides his kids with a comfortable life. Kids help out around the house by doing the dishes, cleaning the house. This is normal.

As the daughter of parents who never imposed chores, I think it’s a major disservice to your kids if you don’t require them to do chores.

Chores do not make children slaves. Chores make children competent to live on their own someday.

Those people who took offense are the reason we have so much degenerate behavior in todays society!

If kids grow up without the ability to work on things they don’t want to do, they become dysfunctional adults. This is well documented.

I dont have daughters, but my 5 year old son LOVES chores. Anything dad is doing, he wants to learn. His favorite chore is cleaning off mom's car after it snows. Dad snowblows the driveway while son cleans off the cars, and i have coffee and hot coca ready when their done. This is something he started himself just being outside playing during snow clean up. He lights up when I thank him for taking care of me and the house. A little appreciation goes a long way, even for kids!

Good grief, Matt! Chores? Seriously? How are you ever going to raise your children to become completely self-absorbed, self-indulgent, entitled adults if you’ve got them learning about responsibility and contribution by doing chores?

The fact that so called parents don't require their children to do any kind of work (chores) is one of the reasons why we as a society are in such rapid decline! Heaven forbid that these children might have to grow up and work for their own subsistence!
