I was homeless for about a year. Addicted to drugs. When I got clean and managed to get a really crappy rental studio apartment, very tiny and not well managed, I fell onto the floor crying from gratefulness and happiness and relief.. I have now been drug-free for ten years and own a home!
~”You can take a shower, freshen up, and go to work…”. That seems to be about the last thing these two are planning to do.
no way in the world that guy is doing yard work.
"I want to live in a house. " THEN GET A JOB LIKE THE REST OF US.
It’s not free… the taxpayers are footing the bill
As a former homeless drunk, I can tell you the only thing I cared about was my next drink. Food, water, and shelter were all secondary needs. Almost 9 years since my last drink!
"Oh, this doesn't work for you? Please gather your things and exit the building. Next!".
"I have never understood why it is "greed" to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else's money."- Thomas Sowell
There are many types of homeless people. For years, I have made baby blankets, hats, scarves and sweaters for people in need, and I was stunned, when one of the sweater/hat sets I gave to the shelter, was received by a couple that just glanced at it, "I don't like the color... can you make another one?" Since then, I knit for babies and Veterans only, because it just make me realize how little hours of work meant to someone who really didn't care.
My mom had a similar experience as a “Personnel Manager” (now called HR) at at Kmart in the 1980s. They have free gifts to give away to “needy” children, and invariably, they’d complain about their free gifts after opening it. Gratitude is more than just receiving a free gift. It’s also appreciating it.
