What a great young man. So articulate and engaging. The world will be a better place with him in it.
I think this is the most mature 18 year old I have ever heard😅🫶🏻 such great advice Oakley! Thank u Mel for setting a great example of parenting❤️
Hey, Mel. Texted my 18 year old at university this video and he actually replied, ‘Good video’! Since he is no longer home, I try to share anything that might spark a conversation in order to keep our connection. It is a bit of a hit or miss. So thank you and Oakley, for letting moms know how a young man’s mind ticks. Your insight has been very helpful!!
I'm only 20 minutes in but just had to stop and say what a joy it is to listen to Oakley and to the two of you interacting. I've followed you for a few years now Mel, and it's crazy how much he's grown. He has the best energy about him, a beautiful smile and very kind eyes. But more than that, he has a beautiful deep heart. And a great sense of humor :) You sure raised him well, and your connection and the respect he has for you is evidence of that. I grew up with an extremely emotionally avoidant father, and it's affected the way I see men. I'm 32 now, but struggle to trust that the deep, enriching relationship I crave for is possible since anyone who's ever heard that has told me to let it go, men aren't good communicators, do it with your girlfiends, etc... Oakley is proof that there are men out there who've been raised to know who they are, what they want, how to connect effectively, how to be kind, empathetic, deep and loving and how to listen and engage. It may seem trivial to some who had it, but this is very moving to me. I love how articulate he is and how much you respect his perspectives and thoughts. You've raised a real one Mel. Good for you. You are an inspiration as it's evident that you don't just talk the talk, you also walk the walk, and that's what makes me trust you. Thank you for being so wonderful and sharing your beautiful family with the world. Some of us really need it.
Love the “coach” take on parenting- spot on!
This is my absolute favorite Mel robbins episode ever! I have a 16yo son (my youngest of my three boys, so you’d think I’d know what I’m doing by now… but) and he’s currently just goin through it. I am trying to figure out a way to get him to listen to this episode with me. He reminds me a lot of your son— awesome and smart and funny as all get out. Keep your fingers crossed he’ll listen with me and tell me how he likes to be communicated with. 🙏🏼
Wow! Oakley is so intelligent! Mel you and your husband did a wonderful job raising him. This is a great video! ❤
What a great son, and what a compliment to you and your husband.
What a brilliant idea to make this with your son. A wonderful young man, and so great for other young people to hear his wise answers from his own, honest experiences. Lovely to see the relationship of mutual respect that you both have together too.
As a 15 years old person ,Mel Robbins 's videos make me love psycology more and understanding people better Thanks a billion Mel Robbins and this video was amazing ❤
