Global Exodus: Why the West's Social Contract is Failing Young Talent
Discover the systemic failures—economic, cultural, and psychological—driving the "best and brightest" from prosperous Western nations like New Zealand and the UK. Understand why high cost of living and broken social promises force emigration toward historically overlooked economies.
Short Summary
- Map the economic decline showing wages consistently fail to outpace the cost of essentials like housing and groceries.
- Identify the psychological reasons driving departure, specifically the inability to advance Maslow's hierarchy beyond mere survival.
- Catalog the emerging global destinations—Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia—that now offer superior safety, community, and affordability.
This analysis explores the mass movement of young professionals leaving established Western countries. It moves beyond simple economics to examine the erosion of the foundational social contract, the psychological dissatisfaction stemming from an inability to thrive, and the structural barriers (like housing restrictions) causing this exodus. The data suggests the West is losing its competitive edge on quality of life itself.

If you work hard enough in N.Z your boss can take a 2nd holiday.
Western society forgot its own people

My family is from bulgaria. We moved to the UK 14 years ago for better life opportunities. Now half of them including me are seriously considering moving back.
1) Fiscal Policy 2) Monetary Policy 3) Public Debt 4) Immigration Policy 5) Overall taxation 6) In some instances flat/declining GDP per capita
Mass immigration doesn’t create new jobs, it creates competition for jobs..
I went to New Zealand 10 years ago and I thought it was ridiculously expensive, I can only imagine what the economy is like now post COVID.
Step 1. Be rich Step 2. Don't be poor. Step 3. Complain about "culture" Step 4. Use wealth to move somewhere else and make it just like the place you left. Ask the locals in Mexico how they feel about thousands of "digital nomads" moving to their towns and being willing to pay $4 for the previously $0.30 coffee because it's not $5 like it was in LA.
