Why Is Everyone Hating On Arby's?
Deconstructing the Arby's Dilemma: Nostalgia, Brown Food, and Competing Against the Modern Fast Food Landscape
Explore the root causes of Arby's widely polarized reputation, determining if the brand is universally disliked or simply struggling to connect with younger consumers who crave colorful, hyped menu items.
Short Summary
- Identify roast beef, curly fries, and onion buns as Arby's enduring, iconic cornerstones.
- Connect older generation loyalty (Boomers/Dads) directly to nostalgic memories tied to childhood visits and landmark life events.
- Analyze how marketing struggles to excite younger demographics due to the food's perceived "brown" color palette versus competitors.
- Acknowledge that attempting too much menu variety distracts from core strengths.
The conversation dives deep into why Arby's remains standing despite persistent online hate, attributing its survival partially to older generations who still value plain, traditional roast beef. The hosts examine competitive branding aesthetics and marketing misfires, concluding that simplifying the menu might revitalize the classic offerings for their core audience.

Dude I love Arby’s and I hate how everyone rags on it when it has delicious menu items.
The arbys gyro is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's also criminal you did not get any arbys to eat during this!!!
I have never once hated on Arby's. It has always been good every time I have went however it can be expensive.
I'm 39 and I love Arby's. I miss the chicken salad sandwich, with sliced grapes and pecans.
I don’t understand why people hate on Arby’s, they’re actually pretty dang good. I dislike fast food as a whole but Arby’s is one of the ones I dislike the least.
I hate to do it but I hard disagree with Nicole saying to par down Arby's menu. The entire reason that my husband and I go to Arby's is because they offer more than simply burgers, aka meat (and cheese) on a bun. I was introduced to them through the iconic beef and cheddar, but I almost never order it. It's also the only place that I can get Diet Dr. Pepper and they give my dogs biscuits whenever they accompany me at the drive-thru.
Arby’s French dip is honestly so underrated
The mozz sticks at Arby’s hit better than any other fast food restaurant
The turkey bacon ranch is the nicest fast food sandwich out there. Nicole is shedding braincells
arby’s was there when everyone was jacking up prices. 2 for $6 or the current 4 for $10 is such a fire deal
