This is called price anchoring, they wanted to raise the price without people getting mad. So they raised the price to an absurd price point so they could lower it and get positive press. (edit) For the "Erm akchualy" crowd. Companies do stuff like this a lot, they pin all the bad changes on the old CEO. Then do something to create lots of positive press for the new CEO. There's nothing more valuable than consumer trust to exploit. What they lost in game pass subs, they are betting they will make it up in CoD sales and perceived consumer trust with the new CEO. Another benefit from this; they raised the price while lowering the value of the pass. People are distracted by the jingling key's "ooo look at this new benevolent CEO".
Xbox has mastered the black friday technique of raising the prices early then dropping them to make it look like ur getting a deal
Increase the price by $10, then reduce it by $7- 'OH THEY CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS!'
I’ll give it another 2-3 years before determining anything.
Cannot wait for the video in 3 months called "I was in fact not wrong"
When I see them actually create good games and not just firing studios left and right, then we can say maybe we were wrong
"future CoD titles will no longer be day one." Oh dear God! what ever will we do!
6:53 unlimited games, but no bacon
Returning to their roots is the best thing any company can do right now.
2:50 "oh nooo, anyway..."
