I’m a blue dot in conservative rural area. Everyone hates AI and data centers. It’s a bipartisan agreement. I’m not surprised to see legislation actually happening to contain it a little. The real politics of AI & data centers is the ultra rich vs average and poor people.
Scott Pelley telling his new boss 'She is murdering 60 minutes' straight to his face and then the entire staff applauding while the guy leaves in silence is pure cinematic gold. I need that footage leaked immediately.
Patagonia does NOT play around about trademark/copyright. I used to work for a place that made parody shirts and we had a shirt that looked vaguely like the logo that said 'agoraphobia' and I think that was one of the fastest takedowns we ever got.
What pisses me off about the “Rubio was at a party thing” is that he was specifically at a UFC fight, yet they used vague language like party. BE SPECIFIC AND THEY CAN’T WEASEL THEIR WAY OUT!
If you look at the total cost of the war in Afghanistan it came out to about 115 Billion a year for 20 years. We're about to pass that cost in 15ish weeks. Absolutely insane.
Phil, can you please talk about the data center that is moving forward with construction in saline Michigan despite its citizens voting against it. The residents of Saline Michigan voted against the data center being put in. The developers of the data center filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the city that it couldn’t afford to force construction to continue. The residents, upon finding out the city settled the lawsuit privately, tried to intervene as there was no vote taken to approve the settlement. Their intervention was denied for being past the 30 day mark. They didn’t know they needed to intervene until the deadline had already passed. The data center claimed irreparable harm because they had already paid a non-refundable $40 million deposit to DTE (electric company who just hiked up our rates again, btw) and had already ordered $2 billion in equipment. These people are plowing through our small towns who can’t afford to stop them. People are voting against it, and their votes are being silenced and tossed aside. This is the beginning of the fall of our democracy. Our votes hold less weight every single day. This should be taken very seriously.
Patagonia suing a drag queen for a single dollar just to protect a trademark so a fossil fuel company doesn't steal it is the most legally exhausted sentence I've ever heard. 2026 is wild.
When I saw the Patagonia I thought we meant Patagonia Argentina. Imagine if the Pattie Gonia vs Patagonia took place in Patagonia
“I wasn’t at a party, I was at a UFC fight,” is textbook gaslighting. You pick out a small detail and get apoplectic about it to throw off the accusation.
