The sequel would have been Darkseid beating the justice league, killing Lois and turning Superman evil, essentially winning, the justice league 3 would have been justice league reversing time and beating Darkseid. It would have been essentially been the thanos wins first infinity war/endgame arc before marvel did it

For the record, "Triton" is the name of a Greek sea god (and also the name of Ariel's dad in Disney's the Little Mermaid). The word Cassie probably means to say is "trident", which is the type of weapon Aquaman is using ("tri" meaning three, and "dent" meaning teeth -- although Aquaman's is more like a "quindent").

A lot of people don’t realize the real story behind this movie. Zack Snyder had to step away during filming after a family tragedy, and the studio brought in another director who changed a lot of his vision. Years later fans pushed for Snyder’s original version, which is how we ended up getting this much longer cut.
