I miss John Candy. 😔❤️
When Uncle Buck is freeze-framed at the last, smiling & waving to his niece, John Hughes actually captured OG Canadian John Candy's humbley smiling fare-well to us all...👋🥹💛
The last shot of John saying goodbye always gets me.
This was my grandpa's favorite movie. When he was dying in the hospital, they had him in a dark room and everything was stale. My mom rented a vcr and this movie and put it on for him and his mood changed instantly. He livened up and when from morose and giving up to happy and cheerful. I am thankful to this movie for this.
You know he’s a good guy straight from the beginning bc he literally drops everything and heads over at 2am to help his brother, who he obviously isn’t close with. Uncle Buck is awesome 🩷🩷
I'm sure it's been mentioned, but this WAS before Home Alone and was actually the movie that got Macaulay Culkin the Home Alone gig, specifically that "I'm a kid, that's my job" exchange with John Candy. Seeing a kid that young hold his own with comedy great John Candy convinced John Hughes that this kid could headline a movie on his own.
That "have a rat gnaw that thing off your face" line was one of my all time favorites when I was young. Still cracks me up today.
As a Canadian, I can tell you that John Candy was a national treasure! 🇨🇦 Correction: John Candy IS a national treasure! ❤️
Buck melanoma, moly Russel’s wart…..😂😂
Uncle Buck was made during a brief period in the late 80s and early 90s where Hollywood was properly utilizing John Candy before he started to slow down before his death.
