I can see how this inspired mass effect
I INHALED this series. It’s been maybe 20 years and I still consider it top five best book series I’ve ever read
I grabbed Hyperion and Fall at the library when I was about 14 exclusively because I loved the look of the cover. I blew through them in one weekend and it was one of the most life-changing reading experiences I’ve ever had. This was my Dune as a teenager and I will never stop recommending this masterpiece to anyone I talk to! Thanks for the video Quinn!
I accidentally read the Hyperion cantos as a kid. It was an amazing story turned my tween brain inside out. I never forgot the horrors of the shrike
Quinn I read Hyperion because of your videos on the Shrike. I was ready for some brutal scenes about unending torture but what really gave me pause was the Scholar's tale. That was brutal in such a different way.
Ilium and Olympos are also sci-fi epics that make use of intertextuality and converging narratives by Simmons that are real page-turners, as well.
Hyperion is my all time favorite sci-fi series. Lions, Tigers, and Bears....oh my
