"It's your fault we forgot you existed" is a wild thing to say to your own child
Story 2. I think penny was a bit mean spirited saying dad was stuck with his biological kids but chose her. At least in that statement it does appear she is trying to raise herself above her siblings.
We all know that telling someone “dad chose me” has the underlying tone of “dad didn’t want you.” So the sister has been spouting her whole life that their dad didn’t want them. Yet when OP told her basically the same thing one time, they’re the AH? Nope. Doesn’t work that way.
Story 1: “you don’t have to be a jerk “ you didn’t have to neglect your daughter her entire life, then call her out her name because she wouldn’t lie to save face. But that didn’t stop you. The actual audacity to be a smart ass after being called out for being crapy parents for 17 years. And I’m glad OP is settling her own boundaries not going back just because grandma tell them they suck. Plus OP’s right about this might be their way of trying to save their reputation. Real remorse doesn’t need an audience.
OP’s parents didn’t “forget her” they actively ignored her, there’s a difference. And while it’s nice that they took accountability of their actions and owned up to their choices I fear it’s too late and that the damage has already been done and that years of neglect can’t just be fixed so easily. Also it’s very likely that they just want to save face and are doing everything they can to save their reputation and clear their image and aren’t actually sorry about treating OP like a second class citizen, they’re just sorry they got caught.
How do your parents forget about you like that bruh… 😭
They didn't forget OP. They never wanted OP to be at the wedding. At all.
They pushed away OP from the wedding plans, to the point of not even including her to the actual event, And then get the audacity of blaming her to 'Act small to not be remembered'?? Since when you have to put an effort to include one of your kid in preparations for an event when you're already doing it for everyone else??
Story 1: They didn't forget OP. They excluded her.
"You ruined our wedding!" "How could I have ruined your wedding? I wasn't even there!"
