My sister celebrated her daughters first period by giving her a "ladys treasure chest" care package she had made a year beforehand, then took her out for the day. My nephews were very jealous, asking when their day was, so she came up with, a "deep sea voice" day for them.
Story 1 : the daughter set boundaries that she didn’t want this party and the mother ignore them The daughter doesn’t trust her anymore because she knows she’s not gonna listen. That’s why she started to go to the Dad because he listens to her.
Story 1: The dad is SUCH a good dad. He educated himself about women's health, acted casually to his daughter and consoled her while explaining things, and he stuck up for her in front of everyone. He also helped make peace between his daughter and his wife. Solid dude.
As a woman who's been menstruating since I've been 10. Struggles with PCOS. A party celebrating that sounds insufferable. If it's your jam, that's great. I'm so happy for you. I will show up to your party all dressed in red drinking Pinot noir. And I'll bring the red velvet cake and while I'm at it. It wouldn't be for me. Also not wanting to broadcast to the entire world that you've started. Menstruating has nothing to do with you being embarrassed about that fact. And everything to do with the fact you're a private person. Believe it or not in this day and age not everybody wants to share. Absolutely everything with everyone.
Story 1: NTA. I Actually noticed that OP'S wife tried to lie to the mom friends and twist the story , only to be immediately shut down by OP. Great job, this prevents a lot of misunderstanding and people taking sides. While I feel sorry for her, she really should know that her daughter needs boundaries and not dismiss it.
"She needs to know not to be ashamed of her body." No, what she needs to know is that she has autonomy over her body.
story 1 is exactly the way to traumatize your shy daughter into being ashamed of her period. the party was all about the mother and her ego, not the daughter
Ok as a 25 year old woman here and NEVER had a period party cause those don't exist for me and is REALLY anxious and shy when I was younger... Having a party WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE would throw me off and I would be so confused as to *why* are we even having a party 😿
*1st Story:* Ya gotta love how OP _immediately_ set the record straight with the party guests after his wife tried to blame him for canceling. Throwing people under the bus works both ways, lady.
Frank Feldman story had me rolling 😂
