r/Bestof My Brain Injury Made Me Chaat
The Workplace Affair, A Partner's Death, and Hidden Brain Injury Fallout
Discover how an affair and a partner's sudden death led to surprising legal and personal reversals when a suppressed brain injury came to light, drastically altering who bore responsibility.
Short Summary
- The initial narrator faced discipline after his affair partner died following his refusal to drive her to the hospital after an allergic reaction.
- Amy's brother reported the affair, launching a corporate investigation that immediately suspended the narrator (OP).
- A later update from a coworker revealed OP had an undisclosed Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) affecting his emotional regulation, complicating the perception of his actions.
This narrative evolves from a story of clear infidelity and guilt into a complex examination of accountability, manipulation, and the impact of pre-existing medical conditions on personal crises.

Epipens are just to keep you alive until you get to the ER. It is not a cure for the reaction. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE ER! Edit: same thing with narcan. If someone ODs on an opioid/opiate, narcan will save their life, but narcan doesn't last as long as the drug they ODd on, so they'll still need to go to the ER.
For anyone confused in case of a post title change, Rslash spelled "Chaat" instead of "Cheat". Edit: Now that i think about it, it's intentional.
Phineas Gage, the man who survived having a rod shot through his brain was reportedly a different and much more irritable person afterwards.
Reminds me of the story of a high school teacher. After being a teacher for over a decade, he started to have fantasies about some of his students. He had never had thoughts like that before. Turns out, he had a brain tumor. Tumor was removed and the thoughts went away.
If the man sounds more “together” in his post than he does in person, that’s a fair indication that his ability to express himself verbally is probably also compromised. Head trauma is awful and this kind of thing is scary and common. I do feel bad for EVERYONE in this story. Even Amy. Being a bitch shouldn’t carry a death sentence, and she deserved consequences for her actions at that company.
You know that the YouTube censorship is bad when you can't even say "cheat" anymore and instead have to say "chaat" XD
Man, Traumatic Brain Injuries are so crazy. My Mom works with individuals with disabilities, and she always said the hardest clients to work with were the ones with TBIs. The outbursts, lack of impulse control and emotional regulation all mix to create some rough situations, and the whole time you just feel awful for them because it's not even their fault. Definitely feels like Amy took advantage of the original OP for her own benefit
"Where's the line of men waiting to put a ring on your finger?" Greatest clap back ever.
The craziest part is that the TBI came from a sign falling on his head as he walked down the street. Straight up Final Destination style accident! He did get a settlement from the store who had the improperly secured sign, but you can't _really_ compensate someone for that kind of life-changing injury.
