In the first story, legally, they aren't in trouble. Per the contracts with wedding planners, they have the authority to fire vendors.

For story 1 OP didn't ruin the wedding the bar tender did. Seriously when someone says they can't touch alcohol i would just assume they are underage or recovering. Either way just take the no and go on with life. For story 2 NOT THERE KID. Therefore, they can not punish OP's kid with a spanking

... Dude. OP was *fired.* What, were they supposed to do a job they got fired for just because the bride might be angry at the *planner?*

“You’re punishing the wrong person” the wedding planner, the one who organized the catering in the first place, fired the company. They didn’t bail, showing up would’ve been trespassing as they didn’t have a valid contract to be there

Bailing? They were FIRED. It’s the wedding planner’s job to replace employees to make up for the fired ones. They did not _bail_ on anybody.

Wedding planner and the bartender was the issue. Theres no way you think the caterers are at fault when the WEDDING PLANNER the one who cordoniates everything and was hired to do so fired them. Op clearly states the contract was followed which is why money wasent returned. After the bartender assaulted their disabled 15 year old minor son. Yes grabbing and shaking is assault and the wedding planner fucking fired them.

Story 1? If there is a problem, then wedding planners don't need to exist. If they feel as though they're able to terminate contracts, they're the ones on the hook.

Last story has an update. OP, wife , and son met for breakfast. When the son was grossed out by the sausage, the wife started her rant again about how SIL is manipulating them. OP shut her up and tried again to get through to her that her siblings need to step up and she needs to move back and find work so she can help this family. She went for a walk to think about it. Unfortunately that is where the update left off but if someone has more that would be great.

If the bride and groom hired the catering, what’s the point of the *planner* ? That’s literally the planners job.

Last OP needs to be understanding but firm, his wife going through something tragic isn’t an excuse for her to insult her SIL and spit in the face of her generosity.
