I feel like Niel still has some hesitation in giving spacex credit and subtly even tries to say all this achievement was normal and expected from a private enterprise. Spacex has made such huge breakthroughs internally which could have taken Nasa years to come close to it.

As I recall. When SpaceX started playing with landing, the booster/rocket scientists were still saying it was impractical.

I remember when Tyson said that private enterprise won’t invest in space travel because there isn’t any profit in it. And the advancement in space travel will be made by government.

If reusable rockets made space travel routine, what would you name your personal rocket booster, and where would be your first destination?

@1:48 "Recycled" instead of "reused" is a good description of the process. They were broken down for parts, some discarded, some refurbished, and a mix of old and new parts was used to build a new booster.

Those expended boosters are not just big fuel tanks, they have engines in them as well

Starships 'catch tower' (Mechzilla) removes the weight (and complexity) of landing gear ^_^

When I see those booster rockets landing I always think of those black and white 1950's SciFi movies and tv shows.

think it's important to point out that the solid boosters cost as much to refurbish when it drops into the ocean as new boosters
